Zen and the art of Archery

Wow, we had a great week this week. We were able to visit an elementary school, junior high and high school this week. The elementary school was the most fun because the kids were so excited that we were there. The junior high was more strict then the elementary school, but the kids still talked to us. Then yesterday we got to go to the high school. At least this time the English teachers included us in their lessons and had us talking to kids. The elementary school and the high school had teachers from the JET program which is the "teach English in a foreign country " add that you see. The guy at the high school was Irish and so the kids were learning English with an Irish accent. Kind of funny.
I think the highlight of the day was the clubs time. Each school in Saijo does lessons in the morning and then around 2:30 the students have a choice of clubs they can participate in. The principal really wanted us to see the archery club today. It was amazing. Here are students that are less then 18 years old and they had very accurate aim. The method in which they shot their arrows was amazing and very zen like also. Then they let us try. So here are some pictures of me learning how to shoot a bow and arrow. IT WAS SOOOOOO AWESOME! I had a blast. I was a little nervous at first, but then became more confident in myself. Of course my accuracy was very far from perfect, but it was still fun to shoot and I think I have to go seek out archery lessons when I get home.

I am off to the home stay today. I don't think I would be that nervous, but everyone else is in the group so it is making me nervous. I'm sure I will be fine, but I won't be on the internet until probably Tuesday.

Have a great weekend everyone and I miss you all so much!
