Pyeongtaek Cultural Tour

This Saturday we went on a cultural tour put on by the city of Pyeongtaek. We started out tour by going to the Wongak-sa Temple in Cheonan. We did Cultural Experience Activities making Buddhist Rosary necklaces, a Lotus flower, and the art of ceremonial tea-making. Then we had lunch.  It was suppose to be at a Korean Restaurant but instead it was at the Buddhist temple that served Bipimbap, soup and a veggie burger thing.  Then a Korean guy came by every table and told us all that wasting food was disrespectful to the temple.  So we attempted to force ourselves to eat all the food they gave us.  We loaded the bus extremely full!  After the temple we went up to Suwon to visit the Yongin Folk Village.  It was a large area of land that had different cultural areas set up much like a heritage park.  It gave visitors an idea of what past Korean life was like in their early history.  They also had a musical presentation which I took lots of video of.  There was also a tight rope walker and an equestrian presentation.  I skipped out on the horse show because I couldn't stand to watch the mean rider whip his practically 3 legged horse to get him to go.  The horse clearly was crippled and uncomfortable, so we went and visited the Ancient Market.
Here are the pictures from our trip.  We did have a very good time despite the horse incident. :)

Wongak-sa Temple

Clark is in the orange shirt

Had to take a few pictures myself because the boys and Anna were way ahead of me.

These guys were working on this crazily steep hill.

One of the cool things about the temples here is that they are painted very beautifully.

Clint and Clark in the background.

The boys.

Below is a video of Clark putting rocks down his shirt.

Anna and Clint standing and Clark putting rocks in his shirt.

The white paper hanging are "wishes/prayers"

View of how far up the sides were leading to the temple and of course, there is no guard rails.

These are more wishes/prayers that you could pay a man to paint on a tile.

Oh and this isn't a Nazi symbol, it is the Buddhist symbol.

My adorable boys.

Making a Lotus flower with Dad. Below is the prayer chant video.

There were more prayers/wishes hanging from the lanters.

Me and Anna in front of Buddha.  Not sure why depending on which country you are in, the Buddha has his hands in a different position.

Not wanting to take the picture.

Eating WAY too much food!

These women made these honey/peanutbutter balls.  They stretched out the honey into thine strings so that there were over 4,000 in each treat.

Box of honey things.

Folk Villiage

Mortar and Pedestal

You could push this or hook up your ox and the stone would grind your grains.

Old fashion toilet

This guy was selling taffy

Mom what's that?

"Can I go pee here?"

Running through the ribbons on the way to the bathroom.

This is the music performance.

This cool red bean jelly stuff.

Clark in front of the poor crippled pony.

The boy's got game!

HILARIOUS!
