Clark's Getting Bigger

On Monday Clark will turn 3 months old. With this new age, also comes the growing in length and weight. He weighs 14lbs already and he's quickly taking up the room in his bassinet! For some reason yesterday I decided that Clark needed to start to nap in his crib. Clint and I aren't comfortable with him sleeping all night in there all by himself just yet. Mostly because it's terrifying to me and because it's so much easier to get him out of the bassinet next to the bed and feed him in the middle of the night. So I have settled to having him nap in his crib during the day. I'm torn a little because I've read a bunch about SIDS and recently it is said that babies shouldn't even sleep in a separate room during the day. I'm not sure if that statement came from the Pediatric Associates, but I know I heard it on the news a few weeks ago. But on the other hand, thousands of babies sleep all the time in their cribs and are just fine and I can easily go in the room to check on him. Plus other parents have their babies sleep in their cribs since the day they bring them home from the hospital. Clint and I on the other hand, had no desire and I didn't even want him to sleep in the bassinet!

He's only been in there for about 10 minutes and I already sent Clint to go check.
It helped a lot that even though he was kind of awake when I put him down, he seemed to realized that this was a good decision and went to sleep quickly and with out fussing. Several times during the last few weeks Clark will be very asleep on my shoulder and the minute he gets into the bassinet he jolts awake. This time he seemed very comfortable with going to sleep in his crib.
Here's a picture of the cutie in the crib.

Today I also had 2 baby showers and I had a friend take this picture of me and Clark in his new outfit that my Aunt Jan got him and that came in the mail this week. If I look exhausted, well, that's because I am. I didn't get to sleep until 2 am because I was having fun with my friends!

These are some pictures of Clark and Clint yesterday.

The Dentist and stuff...

About a week ago, a tooth of mine started to hurt and was causing some of my other teeth to hurt. I drug myself to the dentist. For those of you who don't know, I'm TERRIFIED of the dentist! I never really have ever liked it, but getting my wisdom teeth removed really ruined it for me. I remember the dentist putting a pair of pliers into my mouth! I started to cry and after that I HATE the dentist. (I was 17 or 18 at the time too) In fact, I was so worried about getting the rest of my wisdom teeth removed that I was given anesthesia and then threw up for 2 days after the surgery.

So this fear I have has caused me to avoid the dentist and for problems to creep into each of my teeth. I think I have either a cavity, cracked filling or am in need of a root canal in ever one of my teeth. But since my one tooth has been hurting, I decided to go and get things taken care of. After all I've been paying for dental insurance for the last 3 years. When I called, I was told that the dentist was not a provider for my insurance company. This made me upset especially when I called the insurance company and they told me my network was TOPEKA! Are you kidding! What moron at the district signed us all up for OUT OF NETWORK dental insurance? After some more phone calls and a couple of days of being upset I figured out that it really doesn't make a difference, especially when it comes to fillings and root canals.
The tooth that was hurting had the possibility of either just being a big cavity or might need a root canal. So I walked into the dental office today thinking worse case scenario. The doctor and assistant did a good job of distracting me and making me as comfortable as possible. I was relieved when the doctor got done and said that it just needed a big filling. UNFORTUNATELY... I still have another tooth that hurts and I know for sure it needs a root canal. YUCK!

I've also included some cute pictures of Clark from today:

Clark's Growing

I thought I would take some pictures of Clark for you to see how much he's grown. I've also included some cute and funny videos.
In these pictures Clark is wearing his "organically growing" shirt. I remember this summer I went to visit my parents and this shirt was hanging in the kitchen. It looked so big and I thought Clark would be at least 6 months before he would be close to fitting into it. Well, as you can see, he's almost outgrown it! He's already in the 3-6 month clothes! I guess he technically is 12 weeks old, but not close to 6 months old. It's funny how it feels like it's been closer to 6 months not 12 weeks ago that he was born!

We have lots of time on his play mat because he LOVES it. He kicks his feet against the end and makes all these cute noises.

And even some adorable pictures of him looking like a purple frog. :)

I got a video of him playing on the mat, talking to me and even got one of his precious smiles caught on the video.

Here's one of Clint playing with him last night.

California here we come...

...right back where we started from!!!

Yep, that's right. Clint got assigned Camp Pendleton! YIPEEEEEE. We get to go back to be close to family and enjoy warm weather. :)

I had gone to bed, and Clint came back in the room. He sounded all upset, he was already grumpy from Clark's meltdown earlier that night, and he said the got "the email" telling us where we wanted to go. I was bracing myself for horrible news like that we were being sent to the middle of nowhere, but then he told me that we got Camp Pendleton! HURRAY...

When I called my mom, she sounded so at peace and said, "We can finally be a family again!"

Clint's mom screamed a wahoo on the phone when he told her. :)

Now we just have to make sure that Clint passed his board exam and survives anesthesiology with the multi-personality, monster clinician.

Clark Update

Last Friday Clark turned 2 months. He actually will be 11 weeks on Sunday! We can't believe how much he's grown! We had a well baby check up on Wednesday. He now weighs 14lbs 3.5oz which is the 90th percentile. Can't believe it! I knew he was getting big, but I didn't know that he'd gain that much weight. 2 lbs since last months check up, which seems like it was so long ago.
He is 23 inches long which puts him in the 47th percentile. He only grew one inch.
And my favorite, (justification for the c-section) his head circumference is 43cm which puts him in the 98th percentile! Definitely takes after Clint. :) Love ya hun!

As you can see from the pictures Clark has started to smile. Yeah! It very adorable! He'd smile every once in a while, but we couldn't really get him to smile until about a week ago. You still have to make a complete fool of yourself to get the sweet smile, but it's so worth it!

He also holds his head up pretty well. We love it when he does a Stevie Wonder with his head while he sits on your lap. I'll try to get a video of it and upload it later. :)

As for sleep, he still gets up at least twice a night, well actually more but the early morning wake ups are such a blur. We had a fluke night on Monday where he slept for 5 whole hours. It was AWESOME! He usually sleeps really well (3-4 hours) the first half of the night, but then after 3:30 all bets are off, and it depends on him. I think a lot of time he wakes up because he's hungry, but doesn't wake up enough to eat a good meal, causing him to wake up again in two hours or less. Then there's nights like last night where he wakes up with really bad gas. Poor kid. Gas drops don't work either. If anything I think they make him spit up more. Most of you know he's the spit up king. We have days where we go through one burp cloth per feeding. I was surprised he gain so much weight with the amount that comes back up!

Oh and for those of you wondering, "What's that red spot on his face?" Yeah, I'm a horrible mommy. That is Clark's battle wound from last night when I scraped his face with my finger nail during one of our early morning feedings in which I am trying to feed him and am so tired that I'm not really awake. I felt TERRIBLE when I got up and Clint looked at him strange. I thought, "What, does he have massive spit up coming out?" Nope he's got a big gouge between his eyes. My finger nails are now as short as I could comfortably cut them!

Clark's Blessing

Clark was blessed at church today. Our church gives our children blessings when they are infants to give them a name for the church records and a blessing for the rest of their lives. When Clark reaches the age of 8 he will be baptized.

Clark was a little tired when we got to church and cried during most of his blessing. Poor guy. He just wanted his mommy. Before his blessing he started to cry so they gave him to me to calm down. The minute I had him, he stopped crying. What a great feeling to have super mommy powers!

Clark and Clint after the blessing.
The outfit Clark is wearing was the same one his great grandma wore.

Clark, Clint, Bishop Allen (right of Clint), and our friends Jeremy, Steve Revard(left of Jeremy) and Nathan Nelson (left of Steve) all gave Clark his blessing.

The Wayland Family

Clark, Clint, Me, Clark's Moogie, Diane, and Clark's Great Grandma, Barbara

We tried to take a picture of Clark and his G.G. I didn't do a great job because the first one I took, I cut off a little of the top of Grandma's head and the second one, Clark was done with the picture taking.

So it has nothing to do with Clark's blessing, but since I don't feel like doing a separate post, I am adding some cute kitty pictures. O.C. likes to crawl into blankets and sleep. This is him under the blanket hiding. :)
