About a month ago, maybe a little longer, we tackled potty training. After Clark asked me to take him to go potty on the first day we were in our new church building and about a week after moving into our new house I decided that the boy was ready!
I got ideas from Pinterest on Potty Training and for the most part he did AWESOME. We did fun things like make ice cubes out of Kool-Aid to put in 7-UP. I let him pick as many salty and sweet treats as he wanted from the store, and we did Jelly Beans as rewards for being successful in the potty. He LOVED IT. I think the first day we had no accidents and it wasn't until I forgot to remind him would he have an accident. I would set my timer on my phone and when it would go off, he had to go potty, or at least try. Now if I set my timer on my phone for cooking or something he says, "I don't have to go!" or "Time to go Potty!"
Slowly over the last couple of weeks he has been more and more successful with being out and about without having accidents. Now, unless Clark is absorbed in games, he remembers to go or tell me at least.
In fact, last weekend we were in a furniture shop and after talking with the owner I turned to find Clark and didn't see him. Then I heard a toilet flush. Clark had gone into the bathroom, shut the door and gone by himself!
Clark especially likes to "pee in nature" but it has only happened a few times. He has peed on a couple tress and one day was adamant about peeing on the grass outside our house. Oh the joys of having a boy!
Then today at Lotte World, Clint and I would take turns having him go to the bathroom with us. Slowly Clark started to only want to go to the bathroom with Clint. He likes to pee in the Urinals. Clint told me this story:
Clark tells him which Urinal he wants Clint to use and then picks a different one. Today they went into one bathroom that had about 7 urinals to choose from. No one else was in the bathroom except for them. Clark ran to the far one and told Clint to use that one, then went back to the first one to use, only another man had walked in a started to use it. Clark stood there in bewilderment about how someone had come in and started to use his urinal. He was standing there ready to pull his pants down and was staring up at the guy, like, well aren't you going to move? Then when he realized he wasn't going to move, he went over to the second urinal and stood in front of it until the man left and Clark ran over and used the first one.
He is a particular little boy, but I sure do get a kick out of the fun things that he does!
